The Definition of Value (2023)
The Definition of Value (2023) is a multi-faceted artwork questioning society’s value towards blue-collar workers in Singapore. Combining a tourism booth installation, research materials, prints, and decals, the work immerses audiences in the risks faced by migrant workers on a lorry trip through Orchard Road. Satirically addressing the factors influencing the value placed on different lives, the artwork highlights recent legislative changes on worker transportation and references historical practices of slum tourism and human zoos that persist today.
