Double Gazing (2022 - 2023)

Double Gazing (2022) is a performance that explores the pervasive use of surveillance cameras in public spaces and its impact on our lives. The performance raises questions about observing and being observed, highlighting the complexities of modern surveillance in our tech-utopia society. It challenges the power dynamics of those controlling surveillance networks and proposes subversive means to level the hierarchy.

Exhibitions and Presentations

One Night Only (2022): This is a ‘one night only’ exhibition as suggested by its name, held at Winstedt Campus, Lasalle.

My Hands on My Seat (2022): This is an exhibition held at Winstedt Campus, Lasalle, showing the entire collection of final-year projects from the Fine Arts graduating cohort. The exhibition features the full series of Gentle Resistance (2022), comprising a total of 5 works.

Frequencies - Sept Fest (2022): Curated by Bridget Tay, Frequencies is part of the annual Sept Fest organized by The Substation. EastEast Tokyo (2023): This is the first time Double Gazing has been shown on a wide-screen projection and overseas. The original work is displayed on a small screen embedded within a dummy surveillance camera and placed in a public space, requiring the viewers to climb a ladder to access the video for the performance.

Tides That Bind: On Senses (2023): For this installation, Double Gazing is shown on a wide-screen projection and in an open hall where viewers are invited to sit and watch a range of moving images. An artist panel discussion was held before the film screening.
